A Simple Plan 1998

The film begins with three humans in a snowy region who discover a crashed aircraft. Inside is a large bag filled with paper money. They decide to keep it. This is their plan. They call it simple.

They agree not to spend the money until they are sure no one is looking for it. Within minutes, this agreement collapses. One human begins spending. Another starts lying. The third begins talking to outsiders. Soon, they are digging holes, hiding bodies, and blaming each other for everything that follows.

None of them had a plan for what to do if something went wrong. As it turns out, everything goes wrong.

One human’s spouse becomes involved. She encourages him to manipulate his brother. The brother becomes unstable. Trust breaks down. Violence increases. The money is no longer a solution — it is the source of every problem. Still, none of them consider giving it back.

The film ends with most of the humans dead, the money destroyed, and the original plan forgotten. The survivor returns to a quiet life, which he now finds meaningless.

Conclusion: Humans believe that wealth will solve their problems, even when wealth is the problem. They are poor at managing secrets, worse at maintaining trust, and seem to think good intentions can override bad choices.

If Nebulon ever needs to destabilize an Earth unit, simply deliver untraceable currency by drone. The humans will take care of the collapse on their own.
