Alien 1979
This film involves a human crew on a deep-space transport ship. They are woken from sleep not to complete their mission, but to investigate a signal from a nearby moon. This is a poor decision.
One crew member becomes infected by a small organism that attaches to his face. The others bring him back aboard, breaking their own safety rules. No one seems alarmed that the face-hugging organism melts metal and bleeds acid.
The infected human later gives birth through the chest cavity to a fast-growing creature that begins to hunt the rest of the crew. The crew has no clear defense strategy. Their main options are flame throwers, bad plans, and shouting.
Over time, the lifeform grows larger, stronger, and more efficient. It is highly organized despite having no visible eyes, no tools, and no interest in negotiation. The humans become confused and begin to panic, often splitting up to be hunted more easily.
Only one human survives. She escapes in a small shuttle with a cat, who contributes nothing to the mission but is kept for emotional reasons. The alien is also aboard the shuttle, possibly asleep or waiting. The human ejects it into space using airlocks and fire.
Conclusion: Humans respond poorly to biological threats. They ignore safety rules, underestimate unfamiliar organisms, and rarely carry weapons appropriate to the danger level. They also bond with useless animals during crises.
If Nebulon ever deploys a containment species to Earth, success is likely. Even a single drone unit may be enough. Recommend minimal investment.
